PLC, SCADA to AI, The Industrial Implementation Conference (IIC) | Call For Papers

Conference Overview
From PLC & SCADA to Intelligent Industrial Operations

Call for Papers

This conference addresses the journey organisations are undertaking as they modernise industrial systems built on traditional PLC and SCADA foundations, aligning these environments with the expectations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).

Across manufacturing, energy, utilities, and infrastructure, industrial operations are becoming more connected, data‑driven, and digitally enabled. As a result, the role of the engineer is evolving beyond standalone control systems to include system integration, data infrastructure, and AI‑enabled operations. This shift is creating strong demand for practical skills that allow organisations to extend the life of existing assets, integrate new technologies, and achieve measurable improvements in performance, reliability, and cost.

Bringing together engineers, system integrators, OEMs, and industrial end users in Birmingham, the program focuses on real‑world experience across the full modernisation journey, from PLC and SCADA systems that keep operations running every day, through to data integration, analytics, AI, and intelligent operations.

The conference starts with the fundamentals: machines, processes, and assets controlled by PLC and SCADA systems in live operating environments. From there, attention turns to the practical challenges of connecting and unifying these systems, often spanning multiple vendors, technology generations, and legacy constraints, in line with Industry 4.0 and digital transformation objectives.

Throughout the program, the focus remains firmly on practical implementation:
Extending and modernising legacy PLC and SCADA systems
Building data pipelines and integrating OT data into enterprise platforms
Applying analytics, AI, and predictive maintenance in operational settings
Securing increasingly connected industrial environments
Delivering outcomes that move beyond pilots to scalable deployment

This is a technical conference, designed for those working directly in operational environments. We prioritise projects, engineering challenges, measurable outcomes, and lessons learned, including what didn’t work and why.
