Australia’s water sector is navigating a period of significant change and opportunity. Across urban and regional networks, utilities are modernising ageing infrastructure, responding to evolving environmental discharge expectations, planning for climate variability that brings both water scarcity and flood risk, advancing digital capability, and supporting workforce transition as experienced operators move toward retirement.

Utilities are delivering higher levels of service, stronger environmental outcomes, greater transparency, and long‑term system resilience, often while managing budgets and workforce capacity. This environment calls for thoughtful decision‑making around risk, investment, technology, and operations, supported by practical experience and shared learning across the sector.

The conference aims to bring together water professionals from across the industry to share practical experience spanning the full water cycle, addressing today’s operational realities and preparing for the future.

The program will feature case studies covering network operations and asset management, treatment process selection and performance, wastewater and resource recovery, digital transformation, catchment management, and workforce capability.

It is built for operators, engineers, asset managers, planners, and regulators who are responsible for keeping water and wastewater systems running safely, reliably, and compliantly, often under difficult conditions.

From catchment to community, the Australian Water Conference focuses on what is actually working in Australian water, the lessons learned from what hasn’t, and how the sector can move forward together.

We invite water professionals to submit an abstract and share their practical experience with peers across this sector.
