Simon began his career in 1986 as an apprentice electrician at Balfour Kilpatrick in Nottingham, progressing to Contracts Manager.  From 1998 to 2017 he worked for Omega Red Group Ltd., initially running a national mobile telecommunications fixed wire testing project. During Simon’s 19 years at Omega Red Group, he progressed from Technical Engineer to Engineering Manager providing specialist advice and support for lightning protection and substation earthing projects. In 2017 Simon took on the role as Director of Specialist Earthing at Premier Technical Services Group running utility projects throughout the UK. In 2021 Simon took on the role of Design Manager at RH Irving Industrials Ltd, providing consultancy and design services to some of the leading companies in the UK such as Drax, Balfour Beatty, T Clarkes and Viking Link.Simon is a member of BSI committees for Lighting protection GEL 81 and is a liaison with the GEL 600 Earthing committee.
Simon is married with 3 grown up children, one grandson and lives in the High Peaks in Derbyshire.
